The Dowry House Retreat is a new facility of the Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham which offers a refuge for those worn down by the modern world. Managed by the Shrine and run by the sisters of the Community of Our Lady of Walsingham, it offers a retreat for those who ‘wish to recharge their spiritual batteries, to attend one of the many formation courses being organised by the Shrine or just to rest a while with the Lord’. The COLW will be familiar to many in our diocese from their time at Abbotswick.

The next spirituality weekend at Dowry House will run from Friday 13 July to Sunday 15 July. Entitled ‘Surrendering to God’s Will in the present moment’, it will provide practical anecdotes and tools to help grow in a life-giving spirit of surrender to God: ‘It is only when we stop relying on our need to control, to know, to be perfect, that we begin to taste the joy of allowing God to work freely in our hearts and lives.’

A Theology Summer School will take place from Friday 3 August to Wednesday 8 August. This is an introductory course to theology for young adults led by Fr Nicholas Crowe OP. It is perfect for anyone who would like to deepen their faith and understanding of the Bible, for those who have recently come to faith, or those who have been Catholic for many years.
