QF on the road
The Commission for Evangelisation and Formation knows that Brentwood is a long way to come for the many wonderful events that take place there, so CEF takes some of the events on the road! Last week it travelled up the M11 to Saffron Walden and Our Lady of Compassion, the northernmost parish in this diocese, for a Question of Faith evening. QF is now in its third year, and has been invited by parishes all over the diocese. As always there is a panel of experts ready to answer whatever questions about the faith the audience might put to them.
QF questions
The questions last week ranged from the beginning of the Old Testament (original sin) to the end of the Gospels (which disciple stood at the foot of the cross), came right to the present day (the Church’s mission) and even strayed into the future (the upcoming Year of Faith.) Although the audience was small, the questions were as deep and profound as those of previous audiences in Wanstead, Ilford, Southend, Wickford, Wivenhoe and Witham.
Each Question of Faith evening offers the audience the opportunity to ask questions about moral issues and quandaries, theology and scripture, the Church and its history, and the Church and the world. More QF events are planned for the coming months, and most especially for the upcoming Year of Faith.
More CEF events
The next CEF event is a study day: on 9 June Dr Gemma Simmonds CJ will come to Brentwood to present the first on a series of ecumenical study days for the Year of Faith on the Second Vatican Council. Her talk is on the achievement of Vatican II and what difference it made both within and outside the Catholic faith community. Contact CEF at cef@dioceseofbrentwood.org or 01277 265289 if you’d like to book a place or would like to see a Question of Faith event at a parish near you. Both these CEF events are free of charge.
