The Brentwood Diocesan Pastoral Deaf Service aims to support Catholics who are deaf or hard of hearing to play a full role in the life of the Church.

We arrange signed Masses around the Diocese each month. See events list for the next signed Mass near you.

We offer communication support for those preparing for the sacraments. This can include communicating for a child who is deaf at a parish programme, communication for parents who are deaf and whose child is in a parish programme, or individual preparation if this is the best option.

We provide training in liturgical signing for those who are deaf and wish to develop their skills as well as for people who are hearing, with the aim that these people will then be able to communicate for people who are deaf in their own parish. Training is also offered to priests to develop their signing skills.

Communication is offered at major Diocesan celebrations.
