Resources from the CEF
The Word of God is the "fundamental element of evangelisation"
(General Directory for Catechesis, 50).
We recognise that the Sacred Scriptures are at the heart of evangelisation.
CEF supports and encourages engagement with the Bible at all levels.
Promotion and study of the recent teaching document of our bishops 'The Gift of
Scripture' is a priority.
We offer support to those running groups for lectio divina, Bible study
and Bible prayer groups.
Where such groups can include Christians of other communities this is to be welcomed.
We anticipate a renewal of biblical formation work due to Pope Benedict's calling
of a Bishops' Synod in Rome, which will be held from October 5-26 2008 to reflect
on the theme: ‘The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church.’
