Teaching in a friendly Diocese
Our Schools
The Diocese of Brentwood stretches from Harwich to Shoeburyness and Saffron Walden to Canning Town.
This comprises the County of Essex, five London Boroughs (Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, and two Unitary Authorities of Thurrock and Southend.
Much of the area of the Diocese is countryside, but most of the population is centred on London boroughs and the major county towns.
If schools can mark themselves out as places where timeless values are taught, then they will be schools with a future.
Our schools’ provision consists of 78 primary schools, including eight independent schools and 18 secondary schools including one independent school.
We are fortunate in having a special independent school catering for SEN students at both primary and secondary level.
An invitation to join us
In meeting the challenges of educating the future generations of this Diocese, I invite you to come and work with us. We are committed to providing for all our young people the experience of learning within a community of faith, supported by staff, governors, parents and Diocese, all of whom are deepening their understanding of God.
To achieve this, we must have dedicated practitioners who are enthusiastic about all that is best in both Christian life and tradition and sound teaching practice. We see education as an integral part of the Church’s mission to the world. Every teacher in our Diocese is active in the process of this mission.
In the words of a former pupil of this Diocese, Lord Alton: “If schools can mark themselves out as places where timeless values are taught, then they will be schools with a future.”
