To mark World Aids Day on 1 December CJSR, CAFOD Brentwood and the Diocesan Liturgy Commission hosted a joint event at the Church of Our Lady and St George, Walthamstow on Sunday 15 November. Father Michael Butler, along with Father Maurice Gordon and Father Mark Swires, led a sensitive and very meaningful liturgy which included a talk from Caroline Wesley. Caroline is working on a CAFOD project in Nigeria to support those affected by HIV and AIDs. One member of the congregation said afterwards that her words were ‘very powerful’.
The liturgy also included prayers for healing, during which many of the congregation came to receive the oils and the laying on of hands. All three of the priests took part in this and there was a real sense of peace and serenity in the church.

CJSR would like to thank everyone involved in the event, especially Frs Michael, Maurice and Mark as well as Deacon Joseph, Tim Campbell and the parish J & P group who provided refreshments afterwards.
