Webinars on Premises Related Issues
A series of webinars is being run in 2026/27 on premises related issues; one each half-term.
Course Content
This course provides school leaders and governors with a clear understanding of the DfE’s School Net Capacity Assessment (NCA), explaining how and why assessments are carried out and what they mean in practice. It covers how NCAs are undertaken—typically through a structured review of the school’s buildings, spaces, and timetabling assumptions—and what they assess, including the size, type and suitability of teaching and support spaces. The course also explains how a school’s capacity figure is calculated and used by local authorities and the DfE in planning pupil places, funding decisions, and place planning. Crucially, it highlights the limitations of the methodology and helps schools understand how to interpret, challenge, and respond to their published capacity to ensure it reflects the reality of how the school operates.
Who should attend?
This is an important course for persons responsible for School Business Managers, Site Managers, Headteachers and Governors with responsibility for managing school property.
