Clergy and lay ‘stewards of the gospel’ will come together on Saturday 30 September at the Ursuline School in Brentwood to examine renewal and restructuring proposals for the diocese. After a presentation on “Working Together To Evangelise Our Diocese”, Director of Development Steven Webb plans to give as much space for as much dialogue as possible. He says: “As has been said before ‘the important thing is not to walk alone but to rely on each other as brothers and sisters.. under the leadership of the bishops, in a wise and realistic pastoral discernment’.”
The meeting, which will begin with mass at 9.30am, will feature two Question Times: one will respond to questions that have been submitted by members of the diocese in advance and a second will discuss ideas or thoughts that have come up during the day.
In preparation for the discussion sessions, Steven Webb has written to all stewards asking them to send questions – from priests, stewards or joint questions from a parish – to him at mailto:[email protected] or by post to Steven Webb, Director of Development, Cathedral House, Ingrave Road, Brentwood CM15 8AT. He has also provided a rough guide to Canon Law for the purpose of showing what is possible and what is not possible in terms of renewal and restructuring.
