Easter Assembly 2021

With thanks to St. Peter’s Primary School, Romford

Easter is a time of renewal and hope, to collectively celebrate the great sacrifice of our Lord and his resurrection. Whilst it is still not possible to celebrate Collective Worship as a whole school community, we are delighted to share with you the Easter Assembly of one of our Diocesan primary schools that through, effort, perseverance and determination were able to create a production that included all children in their school community; an inspiration in more ways than one…

Year of Saint Joseph

In support of the Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”), the Brentwood Diocesan Education Service have created and drawn together a number of resources for schools to use during this special year. Click on the image above to access these resources.

Teaching in a friendly Diocese

Our Schools

The Diocese of Brentwood stretches from Harwich to Shoeburyness and Saffron Walden to Canning Town.

This comprises the County of Essex, five London Boroughs (Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Newham, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, and two Unitary Authorities of Thurrock and Southend.

Much of the area of the Diocese is countryside, but most of the population is centred on London Boroughs and the major County towns.

If schools can mark themselves out as places where timeless values are taught, then they will be schools with a future.

Lord Alton

Our schools’ provision consists of 78 primary schools, including eight independent schools and 18 secondary schools including one independent school.

We are fortunate in having a special independent school catering for SEN students at both primary and secondary level.

An invitation to join us

In meeting the challenges of educating the future generations of this Diocese, I invite you to come and work with us. We are committed to providing for all our young people the experience of learning within a community of faith, supported by staff, governors, parents and Diocese, all of whom are deepening their understanding of God.

To achieve this, we must have dedicated practitioners who are enthusiastic about all that is best in both Christian life and tradition and sound teaching practice. We see education as an integral part of the Church’s mission to the world. Every teacher in our Diocese is active in the process of this mission.

In the words of a former pupil of this Diocese, Lord Alton: “If schools can mark themselves out as places where timeless values are taught, then they will be schools with a future.”

Director of Education Mr. Robert Simpson
Deputy Director of Education Mrs. Maria Shepherd
