This year we celebrate 1,700 years since a momentous Church Council took place at Nicaea. Summoned by Emperor Constantine in 325 CE, it drew up a statement of faith – which became the basis of the Nicene Creed we recite at Mass. This study day on 7 June will examine the issues debated and resolved, and how the emperor’s actions affected the Church.
Dr Ken Carleton, who will lead the day, is a Deacon of the Diocese of Brentwood. He has a doctorate in Church History, is a lecturer at St Mary’s College, Oscott, and is Dean of Pastoral Formation for the Southern Diaconate Programme.
The study day will run from 11 am until 2 pm at the Parish of Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park, RM2 6DH.
Coffee available from 10.30. Please bring your own lunch.
