On Wednesday 11th May Grays Convent welcomed Bishop Alan, accompanied by Fr Brian O’Shea, parish priest at Grays, to the school.

The school’s media officer, Amy Chapman, said: “We gave Bishop Alan a tour and he seemed to really enjoy meeting the girls and our wonderful staff. The day ended with a beautiful celebration for the 36 young people from the parish, 12 of whom were Grays Convent girls (Ciara Brady, Nicole Brennan, Gabriella Cantwell, Niamh Copley, Jenna Fullerton, Bianca Garcia, Niven Murphy, Caitlin Nsowah, Mary Anne Nsowah, Claudette Osagie, Ashley Marie Kemp Sanchez, Maya Singh), being confirmed by the Bishop at St Thomas’ of Canterbury.

“In their interview with the Bishop the girls had some very challenging questions to ask him, starting off with his views on evolution! The Bishop talked about what gifts the Confirmation candidates would ask the Holy Spirit for, but focussed on the courage needed to be a Catholic during their adult life.”
