Are you coming to Walsingham?

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham is to take place on 24 May and, as Bishop Alan is keen to make it the main event of the Diocesan Jubilee Year celebrations, organiser Fr Daniel Kelly is hoping for great attendance from parishes across the diocese.

“Please join Bishop Alan and other parishes around the Diocese of Brentwood in Walsingham to celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope,” he says.  “We will celebrate Mass at the Basilica before walking the Holy Mile to the grounds of Walsingham Abbey to celebrate Vespers and Benediction on the site of the Holy House.”

As ever, people with mobility issues, wheelchairs and buggies, prams and/or pushchairs will be able to travel from the Shrine to village by coach if they are unable to manage the terrain of the Holy Mile. A minibus will then take them from the village coach park to the Abbey grounds.

“There will be an opportunity for lunch at the shrine before the Holy Mile. Although there is a cafeteria at the shrine they will not be able to deal with the number of pilgrims we are expecting so please bring packed lunches or arrange a shared lunch for the whole parish.”

He adds: “In this Jubilee Year, inaugurated by our late Pope, the pilgrimage is a wonderful opportunity to come together with other Catholics from around the diocese, and remember Pope Francis in prayer.”
