Would you like to join Bishop Alan, parishioners and clergy from around the diocese on our annual pilgrimage to Lourdes this summer? The pilgrimage will take place from Friday 17 – Friday 24 July. Each summer a large group of pilgrims from our diocese visits the place where Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette for a week full of prayer and joy. Bishop Alan leads the pilgrimage while a team of doctors and nurses and helpers from the Brentwood Catholic Youth Services supports pilgrims who are sick or infirm. The Pilgrimage provides a unique opportunity to gather with our Bishop, to pray and journey together in faith. It is a time to stand apart from the rigours of life and seek the peace, healing, and grace which a pilgrimage experience can afford.
Sunday 15 February, which follows the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, is the World Day for the Sick. The collection that is taken up throughout our diocese on this day makes it possible for people to go on pilgrimage who would be unable to spend this time in Lourdes without support or without financial assistance.
