Bishop Alan Williams sm recorded this message to be broadcast on BBC Essex over the festive period.
In it he recalls that the first Christmas crib was invented by St Francis as a living tableau of animals and humans to bring to mind the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ. “It was not just a human birth but the dawn of light, of peace and joy.”
