Watch this talk on Catholic Social Teaching ahead of the election

On Saturday 15 June Raymond Friel OBE, CEO of Caritas Social Action Network, led a study day in our diocese, reflecting on Catholic Social Teaching and what the Church says about democracy and voting – and what Catholics might consider before they vote.

This free talk was held at the Catholic Church of Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park. A recording of the event can now be viewed at www.whatgoodnews.org.

Raymond Friel has worked in Catholic settings since 1990, mostly in state secondary education. He has been General Secretary of the Catholic Independent Schools Conference, and CEO of two multi academy trusts. He is now CEO of Caritas Social Action Network, an agency of the bishops’ conference of England and Wales. His most recent book is Catholic Social Teaching: an introduction (Redemptorist Publications). Raymond was awarded an OBE in 2022 for services to education.
