Catholic Social Teaching in an election year

On Saturday 15 June Raymond Friel OBE, CEO of Caritas Social Action Network, is to lead a study day in our diocese, reflecting on Catholic Social Teaching and what the Church says about democracy and voting – and what Catholics might consider before they vote.

This free talk will be at the Catholic Church of Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park (RM2 6DH) but will also be available live online. It will take place between 11am and 2pm.

Raymond Friel has worked in Catholic settings since 1990, mostly in state secondary education. He has been General Secretary of the Catholic Independent Schools Conference, and CEO of two multi academy trusts. He is now CEO of Caritas Social Action Network, an agency of the bishops’ conference of England and Wales. His most recent book is Catholic Social Teaching: an introduction (Redemptorist Publications). Raymond was awarded an OBE in 2022 for services to education.

This free event is both in-person and live-stream. If you are attending in person please email [email protected]. Coffee will be available from 10.30. Please bring a packed lunch.

For live-stream go to www.whatgoodnews.org on the day. No booking is necessary. A recording of the event will be available on the same website. The venue is a five-minute walk from Gidea Park Station (Elizabeth Line).
