Dr Paul Doherty, Headmaster of Trinity Catholic High School, Woodford, recently celebrated a significant milestone in his own life, and that of the school community, celebrating not only his 75th Birthday, but also his 40th anniversary as Headmaster of Trinity.

It is thought he may well be the longest serving headteacher in the country.

Assistant Headteacher Liam Connolly said: “The day’s celebration began with a special Mass, attended by students, staff and governors, where the Holy Father, Pope Francis, sent a special message of thanks and a Papal Blessing to Dr Doherty, marking the occasion. The Papal Blessing parchment was then presented to Dr Doherty by our Head Boy and Head Girl, marking the special occasion.”
