A delegation from Citizens UK including various Catholic school community organisers from our diocese and others met Pope Leo recently, presenting him with Called to Action, a toolkit launched in 2024 to support Catholic schools and colleges in living out the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
On Sea Sunday, which falls on 13 July this year, let us pray for seafarers, fishers, and the work of chaplains and volunteers from the Catholic maritime agency Stella Maris.

Professor Jones' analyses of Government documents show “just how dangerous assisted suicide would be for people who are vulnerable due to mental illness, abuse, inadequate healthcare or lack of social support”.
Particular concerns are that "this legislation would require many hospices and care homes to facilitate assisted suicide, jeopardising their ability to provide care; the provisions for conscientious objection for health and social care workers are both unclear and inadequate; and safeguards against coercion for the most vulnerable are wholly inadequate".
A Government impact assessment shows that the implementation of the Assisted Dying Bill would cost millions but, chillingly, the figures also suggest that over time the Bill could save money by ending people’s lives.
