This week, St Joseph the Worker took part in the ‘Big Lent Walk for CAFOD’, a national fundraising initiative which encourages participants to walk 200km during Lent in solidarity with communities experiencing poverty around the world. Funds raised go towards CAFOD’s vital work providing food, clean water, and long-term support to those most in need.

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, calling us to reflect on the needs of others and to respond with compassion and generosity. Through taking part in the Big Lent Walk, the school community has lived out this call, putting faith into action.

The whole school community – including parents, governors, and Fr Gary – came together to walk around the local area, bearing witness to the Gospel through their actions and generosity.
So far, over £500 has been raised by St Joseph the Worker, with donations still continuing to come in. Overall, CAFOD has received over £100,000 in donations to support communities who need it most.
“A good neighbour is someone who can help me in times of need — someone who can lift me when I’m drowning. It shows togetherness as a community, and love for one another.”
