This course will take place over four sessions in the 2021 spring and summer terms and is intended to support new and recently appointed Subject Leaders in developing the confidence, skills and knowledge to lead their subject within a Catholic Primary School.
This training will be beneficial to all new or recently appointed Subject Leaders. Experienced Subject Leaders are also invited to sign up for sessions where they feel they may benefit from the training being offered.
4 sessions will run from February 2021 to June 2021; each session taking place per half term from 3:30pm – 5:00pm on a Thursday. The training will initially be facilitated via Zoom but may move to face-to face training at Cathedral House, Brentwood in the summer term. The scheduled dates are as follows: 4th February 2021; 11th March 2021; 20th May 2021; 17th June 2021.

Session 3 will cover:
- Dealing with difficult conversations including considering a framework for dealing with difficult conversations:
– when to give feedback
– planning a feedback meeting
– questioning skills
– active listening
– staying in control
- Practical suggestions to help organise, lead and manage a subject area including:
– the subject leaders file
– writing a subject policy
– action planning
- Resources and templates that Subject Leaders may find useful
