Headteacher of St Helen’s wins accolade at Essex Teaching Awards

Amanda McAuliffe, Headteacher of St Helen’s Catholic Infant and Nursery School, Brentwood, has been named ‘Headteacher of the Year’ at the 2026 Essex Teaching Awards. Presented as part of Essex County Council’s annual celebration of educational excellence, the award recognises exceptional leadership and dedication to improving the lives of children and young people across the county.

Speaking after receiving the award, Amanda McAuliffe said: “I’m absolutely delighted that St Helen’s Catholic Infant and Nursery School has been recognised in the Essex Teaching Awards. It’s the second year in a row that a member of staff has won and demonstrates our commitment to educating our children and serving our community.”

Amanda was selected from nominees across Essex for the positive impact she has made on pupils, staff and families throughout her time at St Helen’s. Under her leadership, the school has continued to thrive as a welcoming Catholic community where children are encouraged to grow academically, spiritually and personally.
