Watch Lenten lectures in preparation for Easter

The Year of the God who Speaks has recently focussed on the Gospel of John, which figures prominently in the liturgies of Lent this year. Fr Adrian Graffy, biblical scholar and parish priest, was scheduled to speak at the Catholic Church of Christ the Eternal High Priest, Gidea Park, about ‘The Great Johannine Gospels’, the gospels of the Samaritan Woman (John 4), the Man Born Blind (John 9), and the Raising of Lazarus (John 11), proclaimed on the Third, Fourth and Fifth Sundays of Lent. The first talk took place with an audience, but the two subsequent talks were filmed in isolation by Fr Adrian. All three videos are available on the Ilford parish website under ‘featured videos’ and will be available in the coming days on www.whatgoodnews.org

Says Fr Adrian: “These readings prepare us for Easter. We are necessarily deprived of the public celebration of Mass, but the Liturgy of the Word can be accessed privately in so many ways. I would invite people to watch the videos with the gospel text of John before them, so that in new circumstances we can celebrate the new life of the Risen Jesus which we have received, and which guides and nourishes us even in the most difficult circumstances. My gospel reflections are also available on the diocesan website each week (via the Sunday Gospel tab at the top of the home page) and on www.whatgoodnews.org in the archive held there.”
