“Christmas is a pledge of God’s love in the world, God’s hope in the world”

Bishop Alan Williams sm has recorded a Christmas message, first broadcast on BBC Essex Radio. In it, he says that the Christmas story is essentially a simple human story about the baby born in Bethlehem all those years ago.  “All babies and all births bring us some hope, some joy, some light in our darkness, bringing some future into the present. For Christian believers, we believe that God so loved the world that he sent his only Son. So for Christians, Christmas is a pledge of God’s love for the world, God’s hope in the world, God’s hope in us.”

He ends by acknowledging that this will be a very much quieter festival for many of us. “Wherever you are and whatever the circumstances, I wish you many blessings this Christmas and in the future.”
