Young Catholics prepare for Confirmation at Cathedral rite

Young people in the Cathedral for the Rite in 2018

More than 500 young people due to be confirmed at Pentecost in their parishes will attend the Rite of Acceptance this Sunday – Good Shepherd Sunday. From 21 different parishes across the Diocese, they will all be introduced to Bishop Alan by their catechists, and will be supported by their families.

The young people will also hear from BCYS members, Fr Dominic Howarth, who is responsible for youth formation, and Barry Mizen MBE from the organisation “For Jimmy” (www.forjimmy.org). Barry and his wife Margaret have visited schools, parishes, prisons and community groups many times since their son Jimmy was killed in 2008. Sharing his story has evolved into a programme that inspires young people, schools and businesses to build safer, more peaceful communities.
