BRES serves the Kingdom of God in enabling the enablers to develop the growth in faith, knowledge and understanding of God in schools.
The Diocese of Brentwood stretches from Harwich to Shoeburyness and from Saffron Walden to Canning Town. Much of the diocese is countryside, but most of the population is centred on the five London boroughs and the major county towns.
BRES was founded in September 1972 by Monsignor Christopher Creede under the leadership of Fr Michael Butler who led a team of six full-time members. BRES serves 75 primary schools, 18 secondary schools and one special school. Currently, BRES is staffed by the director, Mgr George Stokes, a primary adviser, Sr. Jude Groden RSM, secretary Mary Cronin and a co-ordinator for the Rainbows Bereavement Support Programme, Derek Kelly.
